• It was a cold one last night. It still is. I have so much cardboard wedged in front of my radiator and my truck still didn’t warm up very fast. It handles like a sled on the ice.

Wayne and I went to Old Chicago and signed him up for the tour. We started with something that tasted like it had been made from pine needles. In a blender.

I had an absolute blast last night heckling the Jackson Taylor Band. Boland put on one hell of a show. Maybe I should go to rehab for a while.

  • I can’t decide if I want to go watch Jason Boland
Or if I want to watch Alias at it’s new time, 10:00pm/9:00pm central
    Perhaps I’ll flip a coin

  • So last show at Bobby T’s I wore this goofy shirt
    I remember thinking to myself
"I’m glad everyone is coming to see Trevor"
I hoped I wouldn’t die wearing that shirt

    I don’t even have a stocking hat
I’ve been wearing a Santa hat
I ended up with it in high school
I don’t remember if it was Show Chior or Student Council
    Take me to jail

Lucas called me a desk jockey the other day
I guess I deserved it for calling him weak
We were unloading an entertainment center
I may drive a computer all day
I’m still bigger than he is

  • I’ve been a big fan of Garth Brooks for as long as I can remember. Hell, people used to call me Garth after my dubious flirtation with a wireless headset microphone in high school. I’ve been quite excited to hear his version of the Mike McClure song, "I’d Rather Have Nothing", which he put on his Lost Sessions CD included in his new Wal Mart boxed set. Ty England had previously covered it and ruined it by rewriting it, so I knew there was a chance that Garth wouldn’t stay true to the song. My suspicions were sadly confirmed. First, it was one of McClure’s weaker songs, and after what Garth did to it, I wouldn’t even claim it if I were Mike. I’d claim the check, though.

  • Thanks Trevor and Kade, Jim and Emily, Mason and Chris, Mario and Lou, and everyone who came out last night.

    It was our last show

    Of 2005

We had a good set, opening for the Trevor Burgess Band. Kade Gile and I ended up doing a song swap at the end of the night. I’ve always wanted to do that.

    Trevor’s knocking
    Time for food

  • "Chris, when are they going to open the third lane?"
"I don’t know, probably when they get it finished."

    Played last night in Tonganoxie
Tonight in Manhattan at Bobby T’s
    They don’t know it yet

  • I have figured out the secret of life. You can’t wait for others to amuse you. You can’t expect it because it won’t happen. You have to amuse yourself, whether to the amusement of others or at their expense.

I’ve been re-watching season one of Boston Legal because it’s that good. I’ve realized that some days are Denny Crane days and some days are Alan Shore days. Today is a very Denny Crane day.

I have four hours to finish a press release, tweak an auction flyer, and write a TV commercial. Denny Crane.

  • It looks like it’s time for a new month and another entry. I was going to write about how it’s been a month since my last posting. I just checked and found my last post to have been made on 1 November. Hey, December.

November wasn’t bad. It saw the birthdays of cousin John Graham, friend Captain Robert Lee Spector, and my sister Erica.

It was a good month at the Purple Wave. I went back to school to receive my Certified Estate Specialist designation from the NAA Education Institute. Fewer than 300 people in the world have that designation. We had seven auctions and we started receiving our inventory of powersports. Check them out at www.purplewave.com.

Having sold my truck in the last week of October, I finally bought something else to drive. I’ve been wanting a big Cummins engine for a long time and I finally found something with enough miles to put it in my price range.

November saw our first official Aaron Traffas Band show at Harbour Lights in Lawrence. We learned much about what we need to do better, but we also learned that we have something positive to which we can look forward.

Tomorrow we’re playing in Tonganoxie with the Trevor Burgess Band. Saturday will find both bands back here in Manhattan at Bobby T’s.
